"Sciences Po – Linklaters for diversity" Prize
On 1st October 2010, Linklaters and the Law School of Sciences Po launched the “Sciences Po – Linklaters for diversity” prize (“Prix Sciences Po – Linklaters pour la diversité”).
Sciences Po is well known for its activity to promote diversity in the student environment. Linklaters too is committed to a policy of assisting those in difficulty. The firm signed the diversity charter in 2010 and has been active in the promotion of diversity for a number of years, notably through a partnership with the École de la Deuxième Chance (The School of the Second Chance) which helps young adults who have left the regular school system.
By creating this prize, the Law School of Sciences Po and Linklaters will assist Law school students chosen on their academic merit as well as diversity criteria, with the financing of their studies.
In addition to the grant, the winners (one for 2010-2012 division and one for the 2011-2013 division) will have the opportunity to benefit from the mentoring of a lawyer during this time and will also have the opportunity to undertake an internship at Linklaters.
Paris Managing Partner Paul Lignières says : “This prize is another step forward in favour of diversity and against all forms of discrimination. It is essential to give a chance to talented students whatever their background.”
Linklaters and the Law School of Sciences Po have developed a strong relationship thanks to the Sciences Po alumni at Linklaters. The firm was actively involved in the committee which oversaw the creation of the Law school with the support of Richard Descoings, Sciences Po’s director and Christophe Jamin, the director of the Law school.
