Richard is the co-head of the private equity sector within Linklaters and focuses solely on private equity, advising private equity houses and financial sponsor clients on all forms of leveraged M&A and portfolio assistance including restructuring advice.
Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed include advising:
- Montagu Private Equity on the acquisition of the College of Law and the acquisition of the CAP business from Emap
- CapVest on the sale of United Coffee
- HgCapital on the combined acquisition of the Iris Software Group ("ISG") and Computer Software Group ("CSG"), two separate businesses structured as one operating group
- HgCapital on the P2P of Group NBT - the first offer announcement under the UK’s new Takeover Code
- HgCapital on the £1.2bn/NOK11bn sale and reinvestment in Visma
- Oaktree Capital on the acquisition of a 78 per cent stake in Gulmar Energy
- HgCapital on the competitive bid for Goldshields Group
- Terra Firma on the €641m acquisition of Rete Rinnovabile S.r.l., the largest ever solar generation acquisition in Europe, and one of the largest private equity transactions in Italy
- Oaktree on the acquisition of Countrywide via a debt restructuring (Awarded IFLR Private Equity ‘Deal of the Year’)
- Montagu Private Equity and the consortium on the £1.2bn P2P of Biffa Plc
