Experience
Andrew has been a Partner in Linklaters' Projects Group since 2003 and is co-head of the firm’s global Mining sector group. He regularly advises on developments, acquisitions and financings of project assets across Europe, North and South America and Africa. He has particular expertise in the mining/metals, infrastructure/PPP and energy and natural resources sectors where he regularly acts for banks, sponsors and Export Credit Agencies.
Andrew has a particularly strong practice in power, where he has focussed on two important growth areas for the firm, the African market and renewable (particularly solar) power. He co-led the international team advising RBS on its £3.9 billion sale of project finance assets to BTMU made up of global power, global oil and gas, and infrastructure assets in the UK, EMEA, APAC and the Middle East.
He also advised:
- the lead arranger on the groundbreaking €230 million financing for the construction, operation and maintenance of a 51MW PV solar power plant in Italy being developed by SunPower (Project Andromeda – the first project bond in Italy which has been awarded Structured Finance Deal of the Year 2011 at the IFLR Europe Awards and European Project Bond Deal of the Year 2010 by Project Finance Magazine/Euromoney);
- Globeleq on the Azito Power project, Ivory Coast, involving the acquisition of a project financed gas fired power plant from EDF and ABB;
- KEPCO in relation to Imouraren uranium mine in Niger;
- the South African Government on its REFIT renewable energy programme; and
- the lenders on the financing of a cement plant in Angola.
